FAQ - Feedback Potentiometers
![]() What does the Valvcon potentiometer do? The Favlcon potentiometer option is a variable resistor (pot that is geared directly to the output shaft of the actuator. It is used to indicate the position of the actuator output (valve position). What is the output signal range of the standard Valvcon potentiometer? 0-1,000 Ohms Are there any rotation limitations? The standard potentiometer has no internal mechanical stop. It can rotate freely without damage beyond 360 degrees. The active window of the potentiometer is approximately 270 degrees of rotation. With the standard 3:1 gear reduction, the 270 degree potentiometer can track the actuator output throughout the 90 degrees cycle. Beyond beyond 270 degrees will not damage the potentiometer, but will require the potentiometer to be calibrated to the correct end of travel positions. (Be careful during manual override - it is possible to position the actuator "out of quadrant" beyond the normal range of the pot and cams. |
