FAQ - Heaters and Thermostats
![]() What is considered the normal operating (ambient) temperature range of a Valvcon electric actuator? +32 degrees F to + 150 degrees F. What is the operating temperature with the Heater and Thermostat option installed? The minimum operating temperature drops to -40 degrees F. What situations other than low temperatures would a Heater and Thermostat option be recommended? Operation in environments which have high humidity or wide temperature swings (to dry any condensate from inside the enclosure) should require a heater. For high humidity applications, Valvcon offers and optional "tropical" heather and thermostat that has higher set point for heater activation. This aids in preventing internal condensation in the actuator. NOTE: Make certain the conduit entries are properly sealed. Conduit entries are the largest cause of moisture infiltration. At what temperature does the thermostat activate the heater? The standard thermostat will energize the heater when the temperature falls below 40 degrees F. The Tropical thermostat will energize the heater when the temperature falls below 90 degrees F. |
