FAQ - Position Feedback Boards
What does the 4-20mA Feedback option do? Like the potentiometer, this option is used to provide feedback about the valve position. The feedback function internally generates a 4-20mA or a 0-10VDC signal in accordance with the position of the output of the actuator. Are there any mating instrumentation limitations? The standard V Series feedback electronics are a true current source that can drive impedances of up to 600 ohms. They do not require a resistor in series to measure the boards mA between 100 and 500 ohm. A multimeter has virtually no impedance; therefore, the output may be checked without a resistor in series in order to receive the correct output. Careful, this happens often! When do use retransmit boards vs potentiometers? The feedback board is used when a mA or voltage feedback is required. If a resistance feedback (0-1000 ohms) is acceptable, the feedback board is not required. For example, in some cases the controller has the capability to generate a voltage across the potentiometer and, in turn, read the voltage feedback resulting from the potentiometer wiper position. |
